KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A preliminary examination for one worker at Lakeside Academy into the suffocation death of a resident has been postponed, County Prosecutor’s announced Tuesday.
The case is in connection to the death of Cornelius Fredericks, who died after being improperly restrained at the Academy.
Heather McLogan is one of the three employees charged with the death. Her preliminary exam was scheduled for August 27, but this has been adjourned at the request of the prosecution. The request was made due to an essential witness being unable to attend that date.
Now, the preliminary exam for McLogan will take place on Tuesday, September 17 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Anne Blatchford. It will be held in Courtroom K of the 8th District Court.
This is the same date as the preliminary examination in the case of People v. Zachary Solis. However, the examination in the case of People v. Solis will take
place at 8:30 a.m. after being previously postponed.
The case of the third employee, Michael Mosley, is scheduled for October.
