KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Is there a black market for COVID-19 vaccine?
It always helps to know someone when supplies are tight but the FTC warns its a mistake to consider help from strangers. They report scammers are already offering bogus vaccines and cures.
The Pfizer and Moderna drugs require cold storage, restricting access and Operation Warp Speed is reportedly tracking doses. But there are reports that if you know the right person, and have enough cash, you can jump the line.
Some are pursuing an alternative strategy that is safer by signing up on multiple waiting lists. Kalamazoo Health Director Jim Rutherford says local providers have discussed that possibility. He says if you do manage to obtain a dose while signed up on other lists that you reach out and get removed from those lists to make room for someone else.
