BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Battle Creek woman has been ordered to stand trial for murder following a preliminary examination.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports 48-year-old Monica Gordon is facing charges of open murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting death of 62-year-old Daniel Murray.
If she is convicted of first degree murder, Gordon will spend the rest of her life in prison.
Gordon denied the accusations when she was arraigned.
Murray’s body was found inside his North Broad Street home on May 1st, five days after he was shot. Family members had requested a welfare check. Police said he was shot four times.
Battle Creek detectives have said that Gordon and Murray knew each other, possibly because of mutual drug use.
