LAKELAND, FL (WKZO AM/FM) – The future is here for the Detroit Tigers.
The team announced this weekend that top prospect Spencer Torkelson will make the Tigers Opening Day roster.
The 22-year-old was the first overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft, and Baseball America ranks him as the fifth-best prospect in the league. Torkelson spent time in High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A last season, hitting .267 while smoking 30 home runs and driving in 91 runs in 121 total games.
He has eight hits, including a home run, in 28 Spring Training at bats this year.
