PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After two years of preparation and waiting, Centrica Care Navigators has finally opened the doors of Centrica Adult Day, its site encouraging interaction for older adults.
Centrica Adult Day was known as Adult Day Services at Oakland Centre for more than a decade before being closed temporarily during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
According to a release dated Thursday, May 5, the facility opened again on Monday, May 2, at it’s location of 2255 West Centre Avenue in Portage.
Officials say that the site has a new look, but with many of the familiar and engaging activities returning, to include memory games, balloon volleyball, and conversation with friends with lunch and snacks included for guests.
Centrica Adult Day is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with financial assistance and transportation via Metro County Connect available.
Centrica Care Navigators, formerly Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, is a private, nonprofit healthcare agency supporting individuals and caregivers coping with illness, aging, dying, and loss.
Founded in 1981, Centrica Care Navigators provides care of the body, mind, and spirit for the residents of Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Eaton, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties.
