KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Angling Road from Merryview Drive to Oakland Drive has reopened to thru traffic following a project to replace two large culverts and repave the roadway.
City of Kalamazoo officials say two deteriorating four foot culverts for the West Fork Portage Creek under Angling Road were replaced by a new four foot culvert and a new 18 foot by five foot culvert.
The upgraded culvert will increase capacity and more closely resemble the natural stream. The new culverts will also help better manage stormwater to reduce ponding and improve performance during intense rain.
Following culvert replacement, the roadway was reconstructed and paved. Pavement markings will be added over the weekend to complete the project.
