KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gone again, back again. Seems to be a re-occurring theme just before the weekend. And just like Groundhog Day for Friday, we’ll most likely seen more snow.
The National Weather Service out of Grand Rapids MI is calling for more of the white stuff to make it’s way back into the southern half of the Lower Peninsula with many areas getting 3 to 6 inches.
But so far of particular note, pretty much all of Kalamazoo County along with portions of Allegan, Barry, Calhoun, Cass, Van Buren Counties, along with a sliver of St. Joseph County could see upwards of five to 7 inches.
The National Weather Service says to expect accumulating snow between 8 p.m. Thursday night until 3 p.m. on Friday with the heaviest snowfall rates of a half inch, to one inch per hour to occur ahead of the Friday morning commute between midnight to 6 a.m. Again, to 3-6 inches of snow are expected with this weather event with local amounts to 7 inches possible near I-94 corridor.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is warning of slippery/slushy conditions especially for the Friday morning commute with periods of low visibility.
They say however that driving conditions are expected to improve as the weather system makes it’s way out of the area Friday afternoon.
