PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man is in custody and another person is hospitalized after a stabbing in Portage Tuesday afternoon.
Portage Police say the stabbing apparently was the result of a domestic dispute and took place near North Valley Circle and Donovan Drive in the Colonial Acres mobile home park around 3:30 p.m.
When police and fire personnel arrived they found a 60-year-old Portage man sitting in a vehicle at a nearby residence with severe stab wounds to his abdomen. The victim had reportedly fled his residence after being stabbed by another occupant, and then drove his vehicle to a nearby residence where he then called 9-1-1.
The victim was transported to Bronson Hospital by Life Ambulance where he is listed in stable condition.
A 53-year-old suspect was located at the residence. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Kalamazoo County Jail.
Portage Police say the investigation is ongoing and when completed, will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
No names have yet been released.
