PORTAGE MI (WKZO AM.FM) – Motorists travelling on Shaver Road in Portage should be aware that a portion of the road will close beginning Monday morning.
Officials with the city of Portage report that, beginning at 6 am, the stretch of Shaver between the city limits and Beethoven will close completely to begin milling and paving.
An alternate route is posted.
Weather permitting, Shaver will re-open on May 26th.
The entire project is expected to take two years, and includes barrier-free access at all sidewalk crossings, pavement milling and resurfacing from the south city limits to Oakland Drive, and the replacement of water main from Oakland Drive to Vanderbilt Avenue.
