KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Just over $40-million dollars is headed to Kalamazoo County Government from the latest Federal Relief package, and most of that will be spent to help those hit hardest by the pandemic.
The County had hoped to spend some of it upgrading facilities and replacing obsolete equipment, but the guidelines issued by the Feds will not allow that.
Deputy Administrator Amanda Morse says they will be able to use some of it to replace lost revenue from fees and fines but the rest will be channeled into COVID recovery programs.
She says they want to get public input and talk to other local municipalities and human service agencies.
