KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An FBI agent from Kalamazoo County, who helped uncover the plot to kidnap Governor Whitmer last year, has been charged for domestic assault.
39-year-old Richard Trask of Oshtemo Township was arraigned in court Monday on one felony count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. It reportedly stems from an incident involving his wife on Sunday and the charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
As part of the conditions of his bond, Trask is not allowed to return to his home address or possess a firearm. Trask has worked for the FBI since 2011 and has been a public face in the high-profile Whitmer case.
An FBI spokesperson said that the bureau is cooperating with the Kalamazoo County prosecutor’s office in the domestic case and that the domestic incident is subject to an internal review.
