ALMENA TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 1-year-old is in critical condition following a suspicious situation.
The department says the incident in question took place in Almena Township Saturday night, during which a call was answered for an unresponsive child.
Upon arrival, deputies say the child, described as a 21-month-old girl, was having CPR administered by a babysitter.
That child currently remains unresponsive and in critical condition at an area hospital.
According to the department, the situation is deemed suspicious because the injury does not appear to come from normal activity.
The case is still under investigation at this time.
