KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As West Michigan digs out from record breaking snowfall for November, authorities are reminding motorists to not let their guard down on the roads now that the snow has finally let up.
The snowstorm over the last few days resulted in dozens of slide offs, crashes an injuries across Kalamazoo County. One of them included a 20-plus vehicle pileup which closed southbound U.S. 131 at mile marker 42 for several hours Friday afternoon resulting in multiple injuries, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
Another accident occurred on northbound U.S. 131 by the D Avenue Exit 44 involving a jacked-knifed semi truck.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office responded to one of multiple crashed where a cement truck lost control and flipped over on northbound U.S. 131 near Exit 68 near the Allegan-Kent County line, which caused traffic backups in that area.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office responded to 7 crashes and 21 slide offs on Friday alone, according to Undersheriff James VanDyken.
