KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Board has taken formal action to name the County’s I.D. system for the former commissioner who championed the effort.
The County I.D. was created to give residents who may not be able to obtain photo identification from the state, an alternative.
Board Chair John Taylor says Commissioner Larry Provancher of Portage worked harder than any other board member to make the Kalamazoo County I.D. a reality.
“It was a long time coming, but Larry was by far the biggest driver in that,” said Taylor.
The board approved a resolution on Tuesday renaming the I.D. program for Provancher, who passed away late last year.
