KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Three are in custody after the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety recovered a stolen vehicle along with multiple weapons late last night.
KDPS says around 11:00 p.m. Tuesday a Kalamazoo resident observed their stolen vehicle in the 1800 block of Winton Street. The vehicle was on the move and officers located it in the 1600 block of East Cork Street. They says three subjects were walking away from the car, so multiple officers gave chase.
Two were captured immediately and a third was located a short time later with the assistance of a police K9. During the foot pursuits, officers observed the suspects throwing items and upon searching the immediate area located three loaded handguns.
The three suspects were arrested on several felony charges including vehicle theft, resisting and obstructing, and various firearm charges.
Two of the suspects were lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home and the third at the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting arraignment.
