BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Officials with the Battle Creek Fire Department is out with a warning to not put old barbeque ashes into trash cans.
They are issuing this warning after the Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 250 Knapp Drive around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10.
Rescue 6 made an exterior attack, quickly extinguishing the fire, supported by Rescue 4 and Car 3. All other companies were not needed and returned to their stations.
The fire caused around $10,000 dollars in damage to the exterior side of the garage.
Crews believed the fire to have started in a trash can where old barbeque ashes were discarded.
