CLEVELAND, OH (WKZO AM/FM) – Jorge Bonifacio, Niko Goodrum and Grayson Greiner all homered as the Detroit Tigers topped the Cleveland Indians 7-4 Sunday afternoon.
Goodrum’s solo shot in the second snapped a 1-all tie to put Detroit in front for good. Miguel Cabrera drove in a pair of runs for Detroit, which took two-of-three in the series following a nine-game losing streak.
Daniel Norris picked up the win in relief and Jose Cisnero notched his first save.
Cesar Hernandez and Greg Allen hit home runs for the Tribe, which had won six in-a-row before this series. Carlos Carrasco yielded four runs in less than four frames as he fell to 2-and-3 with the loss.
Tigers prospect Tarik Skubal showed improvement in his second big league start against the Indians. The 23-year-old lefty struck out five while allowing three hits and one run over two-and-a-third innings. Skubal was tagged for seven hits and four runs in two innings in his first start against the White Sox.
The Tigers are back home tonight as the Cubs invade Comerica Park for the start of a three-game series. Casey Mize makes his second big league start for Detroit, while Chicago counters with Alec Mils.
Mize struck out seven while giving up three runs in four-and-a-third last week against the Chicago White Sox.
