KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An arrest has been made in the late August murder of a Kalamazoo man.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Friday announced the US Marshals Service and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to find and arrest the suspect in Indianapolis, Indiana in the shooting death of 24-year-old Marcell Savon Alguarelles-Bell . They say the identity of the suspect will not be released pending extradition to Michigan and arraignment in court.
On Saturday August 26, 2023, at about 9:11 p.m., officers responded to the report of shots fired in the 1600 block of East Stockbridge Avenue. They found Alguarelles-Bell critically wounded by gunfire. Officers and LIFE EMS paramedics rendered emergency medical aid and transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The arrest warrant for the suspect was issued Thursday.
KDPS says killing of Alguarelles-Bell remains an open and active investigation and detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to call the KDPS Criminal Investigation Division at (269)337-8139.
