Pope Francis, in hospital for seventh day, alert and eating, Vatican says

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) -Pope Francis had breakfast on his seventh day in hospital, the Vatican said on Thursday in its latest update on his health.

Pope Francis is suffering from double pneumonia, the Vatican said on Tuesday, complicating treatment for the 88-year pontiff and indicating a further deterioration in his fragile health.

“The night passed peacefully, the Pope got up and had breakfast,” the Vatican said.
