ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Members of the Allegan County Republican Party are unhappy with Congressman Fred Upton, a St. Joseph Republican.
Upton was one of ten Republicans to vote to impeach former President Trump. The party last week voted to censure Upton, calling the vote “a betrayal of his oath of office and the core values of the Allegan County Republican Party.”
Trump is said by many to have encouraged a mob at a rally to seize the U.S. Capitol as lawmakers were voting on affirming President Biden’s November victory.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says the “mob was fed lies” and “were provoked by the President and other powerful people” to try to overturn the election.
