LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There is optimism that a deal on the state’s next fiscal year budget can be reached before next Tuesday’s deadline.
The framework for the spending plan and long-term road funding is taking shape according to legislative leaders and officials from Governor Whitmer’s administration.
If the budget is not passed by the House and Senate and on Whitmer’s desk, state government will shut down next Wednesday.
Negotiators have agreed to put all state taxes collected at the gas pump to road repairs and say there is enough money to keep schools funded like they were from the fuel taxes.
