People’s Food Co-Op of Kalamazoo sued by group of members

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A group of People’s Food Co-Op of Kalamazoo members are suing the group’s board of directors.

The members officially are called owners and announced the lawsuit last night at the end of this month’s board of directors meeting.

The lawsuit alleges the current and former directors and others violated the by-laws and the Michigan Nonprofit Corporation Act by appointing directors beyond statutory limits and made decisions outside of open and transparent processes.

The members say they have also been barred from seeing corporate records.
