KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) The former Country Inn & Suites Hotel in Kalamazoo has been transformed to be a transitional family shelter for the homeless in Kalamazoo County.
200 applications have been filed ahead of the opening of the Landing Place.
Eight-million-dollars were invested in the effort to create the shelter by Kalamazoo County, the city of Kalamazoo, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, and Ronda Stryker and William Johnson.
The shelter will have 77 bedrooms and 2025 data from the Kalamazoo County Continuum of Care says there were 709 homeless people in the county, with 254 of them being families with children.
