HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 31-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted in April of first-degree murder.
Brady West will also serve between 50 and 75-years in prison on another charge.
West killed 79-year-old Jimmy Sykes of Battle Creek on May 29th, 2024 when he and friend Brandon Mousseau beat him with a blunt edge of a hatchet and ran him over with Sykes’ pickup truck.
The two had been living with Sykes before killing him, and the older man had told them both they needed to move out by the end of the month.
Mousseau’s case is still pending and he has a pretrial hearing next week.
