PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Portage city council has finalized their deal to secure a new city manager.
They voted last night to approve the negotiated contract with Karen Dempsey Horan.
Mayor Patricia Randall says Horan flew up from Texas, where she is currently a township administrator, to seal the deal personally.
The vote was unanimous.
“We all echo our excitement that you’ll be here,” says Randall. “Her starting date is November 2 which is Election Day in the city of Portage so there’ll be a lot going on.”
Interim City Manager Adam Herringa says they reached the agreement last week, after Horan cleared all their background checks.
