KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Public Safety says the 18-year-old woman who was shot and killed Monday night just before 10 p.m. was Amaure’ Harris.
Investigators say she was shot in the 1400 block of Fox Ridge Drive and believe she was killed in retaliation for the Sunday shooting death of Latraysa Brown.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man Tuesday on charges of murder and felony firearm and recovered a firearm when they executed a search warrant in the 3700 block of East Cork Street.
His name is being withheld until he is arraigned later this week.
Kalamazoo Public Safety says they extend their deepest condolences to Amaure’s family and loved ones.
Captain Danielle Guilds says two mothers are dead “because someone chose to respond to violence with violence,” and adds “neither of these women were involved in the conflicts that led to their deaths, yet they were targeted in their own homes, places where they should have been safe.”
