COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Ground has been broken by Comstock Fire & Rescue Department officials on the township’s new $12.5-million fire station.
It will be built on East Michigan Avenue near 35th Street and will replace Station 9-3, which has become too small.
Fire Chief Matt Beauchamp says the new station will be over 200,000-square-feet, have space for six on-duty firefighters, dedicated female and male locker rooms and a place for them to decontaminate after fires.
Beauchamp says the new station will also be a training hub, with a three-story non-burn training tower and a classroom for 50 people.
