BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Over $1-million has been received by the Calhoun County Land Bank Authority in Community Development Block Grant Funding.
The money from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority will be used to run a Minor Home Repair Program for eligible homeowners in the city of Albion and the village of Homer.
Nearly $843,000 is for home repair projects, and the rest will fund supporting program administration.
The Land Bank anticipates completing approximately 34 home repair projects through the program, helping residents make necessary improvements to maintain safe and stable housing.
The Minor Home Repair Program provides assistance to qualifying homeowners for repairs that address health and safety concerns.
Eligible projects may receive up to $25,000 in assistance, depending on the scope of work and program requirements.
To qualify for assistance, applicants must own and occupy a single-family home in the city of Albion or village of Homer, have lived in the home for at least 12 months, and have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income.
Priority will be given to repairs addressing health and safety concerns, and applications will be considered on a first-come, first-qualified basis.
Applications will be accepted through January 2028, or until available funding is exhausted.
Residents interested in applying can access program information and application materials through the Calhoun County Land Bank Authority. Completed applications may be submitted by email, mail, or in person by appointment.
