NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A semi driver has been airlifted to a hospital in Chicago after rolling the truck near New Buffalo in southwest Michigan Wednesday morning.
The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash on westbound I-94 at the US-12 exit ramp and found the driver trapped in the cab.
The load of coal being shipped to Burns Harbor, Indiana was also spilled on the highway.
The 67-year-old driver from Southgate is in critical condition.
Deputies say the crash was due to the truck going too fast on the exit ramp and say the driver may have been having a medical emergency.
