BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A pair of road construction projects in the Battle Creek area are slated to begin next week.
The Michigan Department of Transportation and contractor Pavement Maintenance Systems will be resurfacing M-66 from Beckley Road/B Drive North to S Drive South and M-37/I-94 Business Loop from I-94 to Helmer Road starting Monday, August 3.
MDOT says the $1.4 million investment includes 10.4 miles of micro-texture pavement milling, over band crack filling, single-course chip seal and fog seal. The estimated completion date is September 15, 2026.
Meantime, the M-294 (Beadle Lake Road) bridge over the Kalamazoo River will be closed beginning Monday through mid-September for a $465,660 repair project that includes healer sealer, clean and seal joints, deck fascia patching, expansion joint replacement, concrete beams repairs, silane treatment, concrete surface coating and pavement markings.
Traffic will be detoured on I-94, I-194 and M-96 (Columbia Avenue).
