PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 51-year-old Kalamazoo man is dead after a Portage homeowner admitted to police that he stabbed him in a physical fight early Wednesday morning.
Portage Public Safety responded to a 9-1-1 call from the 54-year-old homeowner just after 3 a.m. that he was alerted to the sound of someone breaking into a vehicle in his driveway.
He then confronted the suspect and the two got into a physical struggle.
The Kalamazoo man pulled a knife during the fights, and the homeowner used it to stab the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not said if the Portage man will face any charges, but they are investigating it as a homicide.
It happened in the 7100 block of Cedarcrest Avenue, and no names have been released.
