CONVIS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 51-year-old Bellevue man on charges of home invasion, damage to property, and obstructing police.
Deputies responded around 2 a.m. Thursday to a call of a breaking and entering in progress in the 23900 block of 15 Mile Road in Convis Township at the Bellevue Trailer Park.
The caller knew the suspect, who had broken one of the home’s front windows and was trying to get in.
Neighbors pulled the man from the window after they heard screaming, and he broke a window in the victim’s vehicle before fleeing to his own house.
Deputies say the man started harming himself after they saw him crawling on the floor and told him he was under arrest.
He was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital for treatment and evaluation, and is now in the Calhoun County Jail.
The man’s name has not yet been released.
